Govt. S.N.G College Mungeli is a prestigious institution of higher education located in the Mungeli district of Chhattisgarh state in India. The college was established in the year 1961, but before its takeover by the government, it was managed by the Mahakaushal Education Society. The society was founded in 1944 with the primary objective of promoting higher education in the backward areas of Chhattisgarh.

The college is named after Late Shrimati Nani Bai, the mother of the Gowardhan brothers of Mungeli. The Gowardhan brothers made a generous donation of Rs. 20,000 and 12 acres of land for the establishment of the college. Their contribution was instrumental in the foundation of the college, and they are remembered to this day for their generosity.

In the initial years of the college’s establishment, different local and regional organizations, as well as individuals, provided financial assistance to the college. This financial support was crucial in the development and growth of the college, and it helped to create a solid foundation for higher education in the region.
